Welcome to Junior School

The Junior department is a friendly, happy and welcoming environment, where the girls work hard and have fun as they rise to the challenges we give them.

The curriculum is wide and varied: while emphasis is placed on language, mathematics and social and environmental subjects, specialist teachers from the senior school introduce the girls to French, drama, music, PE and swimming.

From 5 Junior, the girls also have a specialist teacher for art and an opportunity to bake and learn about healthy eating in food technology.

In 7 Junior, they begin to learn Latin, and start to study biology, chemistry and physics as discrete sciences in the senior laboratories. For further information on 7 Junior languages and science subjects, please refer to the senior school section.

Extra-curricular activities play a large part in the lives of St Margaret’s girls, and a wide range of opportunities is available to them. By taking part in the school show, dancing, debating, learning to play a musical instrument, playing sport or joining one of our many clubs, our girls can develop their interests outside the classroom and make new friends.

Our junior girls mix with and support the seniors, and vice versa. The whole school participates in events such as the Carol Service and Sports Day, charity events, the Easter Service and the St Margaret's Day celebration.
