Information Technology

There are computers in every classroom at St Margaret’s and the pupils are introduced to computers in the Nursery .

Formal lessons in computing begin in 1 Junior and the girls continue to develop their computer skills throughout the early years. In 6 and 7 Junior the girls undertake an Information and Communications Technology course.

The girls are encouraged to develop their ICT skills by using a wide range of applications, with an aim of establishing knowledge and transferable skills. By the end of junior school all of our girls are computer literate and able to use different packages with ease and confidence.

There are two large computing suites, each capable of accommodating a full class, and a smaller suite.

There is a Computing Club, which meets during lunchtimes, and which is regularly attended by many girls from 5 Junior upwards. The emphasis in Computing Club is placed more on having fun with computers than on formal learning.
