Drama DepartmentThe Drama Department offers the subject at many levels within the school, including presentation at Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher. In drama, girls work as group members. This encourages the development of qualities such as self-discipline, mutual respect and the ability to compromise. Much of the work involves group decision-making and planning, as well as presentation skills. The Drama Department aims to assist girls to improve their self-confidence and their ability to express themselves. Drama plays a vital part in the personal and social growth of each girl, regardless of performance ability. School productions are an important dimension of life in St Margaret’s. In session 2008- 2009, “Oklahoma!” was staged on three nights at the Aberdeen Arts Centre, and was a complete sell-out. Previous productions have included “Anything Goes”, “Annie Get your Gun” and Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible”. Standard Grade classes have produced the pantomimes “Aladdin” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. |
