The sun shone brightly for the 2019 annual school reunion, which took place last Saturday, and we were delighted to welcome more than 40 former pupils and staff back to the school, with a particularly large group of FPs from the class of 1989.
The Former Pupil Committee provided arrival refreshments, while visitors caught up with familiar faces and looked over the various school archives which were on display, including old copies of the Chronicle and photo albums.
Miss Tomlinson welcomed all visitors back to the school before three tour groups, led by senior school pupils, departed from the hall. There was much new to be seen by some of the ladies, many of whom had not been back to the school for many years; they were particularly delighted to see the new classrooms in the science teaching block.
The tour guides took their time walking round the school giving visitors plenty of time to reminisce and see what had changed and what had not, including the lion at the foot of the stairs. The senior girls confirmed that they still rub him for luck before their exams!
The sandwich lunch was much appreciated by all after the school tours, allowing everyone a further opportunity to catch up over cuppa and a ‘fine piece’. After a group photo, Mr Drew Tulloch led the reunion with the rendition of the two school songs, with the newer song sung particularly beautifully by the senior girls.
It was another successful reunion and we look forward to the next one in London in November.
