Black History Month

This morning a group of VI Senior pupils led a celebration of Black History Month through assemblies for junior and senior pupils. After careful research and thought, they chose to focus these virtual assemblies on the lives of two significant black women in British history, Olive Morris and Mary Seacole, and produced different assemblies for different age groups. This assembly marks the beginning of a series of events to be held this session celebrating and promoting diversity in our community.

It has been a pleasure to work with these students on this project and together we have decided to run a series of ‘Inspirational Women Talks’ through which we aim to celebrate and promote understanding of diversity throughout the school year. We are delighted that on Thursday 26th November at 5pm Professor Olivette Otele, the UK’s first black female professor of history, will launch this series.
