St Margaret’s School for Girls provides optional lunches for all our pupils through a local contractor, Entier, who have long served the school with diverse, nutritional and tasty fare. There is a comprehensive 4-week cyclical menu (link below), providing for a wide range of preferences; and parents are able to flexibly select which days of the week their children take a hot lunch. We have also recently started ‘Friday Treats’, with fruit and muffins available at morning break for senior girls, for a small cash fee.
We are fortunate to have dedicated Entier staff who have come to know our pupils well. The chef, Mark, has been at St Margaret’s for years and his focus is very much on keeping the children happy and ensuring they eat well. Mark was pivotal in obtaining the Healthy Eating Award for the school several years ago and we have held it ever since – and we are now aiming for the Healthy Eating Plus award.
Mark is ably assisted behind the counter by Carol and in the dining room by our team of St Margaret’s staff. Orry, Entier’s Executive Chef, looks after the whole company operation delivering food at various outlets in Aberdeen. We are lucky to have such talented people and Orry is not only Scottish Chef of the Year – but he also recently captained the Scottish team in the World Culinary Olympics in Germany, where he earned 2 silver medals.
We are aware that diets and food can sometimes be a thorny issue for children, so pupils are regularly engaged through the Pupil Council and class food reps’ meetings; and parents are welcome to contact us through the school office if they have any queries.
