After School Care
At St Margaret's, we understand that for some parents the working day does not always neatly fall into school hours. As such, we are delighted to be able to offer a range of pre and after school care for pupils from nursery to 6 Junior (for 7 Junior upwards Homework Club is available, see below).
If pupils are unable to be collected at the end of normal lessons, they are welcome to attend our after school club. There is a charge of £5.50 for a short session, (from 3pm to 4.15pm) and a charge of £11 per day for a long session, (from 3pm to 5.30pm). These charges are added to the following term’s school fees.
What happens at After School Care?
After School Care offers a variety of activities such as crafts, baking, role-play, board games and puzzles, all supervised by our team of after school care staff.
The girls in 2 – 6 Junior can be part of the after school care pupil council, and all the children participate in planning what happens at after school care. Every year, after school care holds a charity event and a pupil conference. Healthy snacks are provided, including fruit or vegetable sticks, along with a variety of other items such as toast, bagels, cereals and soup.
Girls from 7 Junior upwards, who are required to stay beyond 3.40pm before being collected might find it useful to attend the homework club. This is also a supervised club which takes place in the school library between 3.45pm and 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, and from 3.05pm on Fridays. Here, pupils can work quietly to complete set homework until parents arrive. Homework club costs £4.50 per session and charges are added to the fees.
Big Sisters’ Club
Younger girls attending St Margaret’s in 1 Junior - 6 Junior, who have to wait for an older sister to finish school later in the day, can come along to the Big Sisters’ club – a free, supervised service where girls can wait until their elder sibling has completed the school day. This must be booked in advance, so please do get in touch with the school if this is of interest.
The Holiday Club is available for St Margaret's School children, as well as their siblings and friends aged between 3 and 12 years. The Club runs for one week during both the Easter and October breaks, as well as three weeks during the summer. The Club is open from 8.00am - 5.30pm.
Each day there will be a variety of fun activities which will capture the children’s interest, there will be a mix of adult led activities such as baking, crafts, sports and circle games as well as time for free play. We also plan to invite visiting specialists to provide activities such as dancing, sport and crafts. We aim to provide a balance of activities which give children the opportunity to be creative and to experience energetic play, but there will also be time for quiet activities which allow them to concentrate for a period, or take time to relax.
From time to time, there will be trips to local parks and amenities. Further details will be released once we know the age and numbers of children attending each week. The children will take part in the day-to-day planning of the club when they attend.
The children should bring a morning snack and a packed lunch. We will provide a healthy snack in the afternoon.
