We want to extend many congratulations to Isla (VS) who last month successfully auditioned for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain on her double bass. This is a fantastic achievement and will give Isla the opportunity to perform in various exciting venues and events throughout the session. Isla has written the following describing her experience of the audition and what is to come for her this year as part of this orchestra.
On Friday the 6th of September, my Double Bass and I travelled to London for an exciting audition for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain after a successful initial video audition. The second round at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama lasted all day, including a solo audition with two pieces and orchestral excerpts, group activities, and a personal interview. Three weeks later, I got the email that I was accepted into the orchestra! The activities are spread throughout the year, including events in October, New Year, February, Easter, and summer, taking place across the UK in venues like the Barbican, Roundhouse, and the Royal Albert Hall during the BBC Proms. We’ll also do a schools’ tour. I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing organisation and can’t wait for the first event!
