St Margaret's Bursary Programme

At St Margaret’s School for Girls, we believe that potential should not limited by financial circumstances. Our Bursary Programme exists to offer girls, who may not otherwise be able, the opportunity to benefit from a St Margaret’s education.

Each year, a limited number of bursaries are awarded to pupils entering the school in 1–7 Junior, I Senior, V Senior and VI Senior, with awards based on academic performance and financial need. Applications for other year groups may be considered in special circumstances.

Bursary awards range from 5% to 100% of tuition fees, depending on the family’s financial circumstances.

Eligibility and Criteria

Awards are made entirely at the school’s discretion and are reviewed every two years to take account of any changes in financial circumstances.

All information provided is treated with the strictest confidentiality, and the school reserves the right to appoint an independent financial assessor.

Application Process

Applications for bursaries for session 2026–27 must be submitted by Wednesday, 21 January 2026. Completed applications, supporting documents and any other relevant financial information should be sent to Head of Finance & Operations, St Margaret’s School for Girls, 15–17 Albyn Place, Aberdeen AB10 1RU or by email to j.innes@st-margaret.uk

Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

Reassessment and Ongoing Eligibility

Bursaries are reviewed every two years and remain dependent on academic progress, continued financial need, and conduct in line with the school’s values. The school may adjust or withdraw an award if circumstances change.

Supporting Our Bursary Fund

The Bursary Programme is supported by the generosity of alumnae, parents, and friends of the school who share our belief in the power of education to transform lives. Their donations enable us to offer more places to talented and deserving girls each year.
