From nursery to university: a reflection on the lasting value of a st margaret’s education

At St Margaret’s, an all-girls’ education empowers our pupils to grow in confidence, pursue their ambitions, and build friendships that last a lifetime. Alina reflects on her journey from nursery to S6, and how the school has shaped her as she steps into the future.

"I began my journey at St Margaret's School for Girls in the Daffodil Nursery. Fifteen years have passed since I first walked through those doors as a little child, full of curiosity and excitement. Over the years, St Margaret's has become more than just a school to me; it has become a second home, a place where I have grown, learnt, and built lasting friendships.

From those early days in nursery to my final year in S6, this school has shaped who I am today. The guidance from my teachers, the support of my classmates, and the countless memories I've made have all played a part in preparing me for the next chapter of my life. Now, as I leave St Margaret's to begin my studies in Medicine at the University of Aberdeen, I am filled with a sense of pride and anticipation for what lies ahead.

I am grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement I have received throughout my time at St Margaret's. This school has not only given me a strong academic foundation but also taught me the values of kindness, resilience, and determination, qualities I will carry with me into university and beyond.

Although I am moving on, the lessons I have learnt and friendships I have made will stay with me forever. I am proud to be a part of the St Margaret's community, and I look forward to the future, inspired by all that this school has given me."

Alina's journey demonstrates how an all-girls’ education at St Margaret’s inspires confidence, resilience and ambition. To see this in action, we invite you to join us at our Open Morning on Friday 5th September.
