Over the past few months 7 Junior have been working towards the STEMovators competition. This is a Scottish competition that encourages pupils from Primary 5 to S2 to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in creative and innovative ways.
7 Junior are taking part in the Climate Smarter section of the competition and have been involved in a series of work focusing on four key Climate Smarter topics: Renewable Energy, Water, Forestry, and Smart Technology. The final part of the project requires the pupils to work in teams to create a sustainable school of the future.
Monday the 12th of May was the culmination of all their work when parents and judges were invited into school to see all the hard work come together in a brilliant presentation of their learning. Our two judges, Mr Bamford and Miss Wilson, were amazed by the girls’ presentation skills and the quality of the sustainable model schools they had created.
The judges had a very difficult job selecting the two winning groups against the STEMovators criteria. However, after considering all the evidence, the judges selected the Eco Frogs and The Eco Champions of St Megs as the two winning groups who will take their presentations to Aberdeen University on Tuesday 27th of May.
We wish these groups all the very best for the STEMovators final event!
