We are delighted to share that the St Margaret's Way Challenge has officially come to a close – and what a journey it has been!
Inspired by our school's namesake, the challenge saw members of the school community walk the ancient pilgrimage route from the centre of Edinburgh to St Andrews – a journey undertaken across several stages since October.
From rain-soaked first steps out of Edinburgh to the final leg into St Andrews - carefully timed with the tides and completed by 24 determined walkers - the challenge has brought our community together. There were moments of stunning scenery, unexpectedly long days (especially Walk 3!), and more than a few renditions of school songs to keep spirits high. Percy Pigs also played a surprisingly crucial role in boosting energy along the way!
Beyond the miles covered and the money raised, this challenge reminded us of the simple joys and benefits of walking: the chance to step away from screens, breathe in fresh air, and connect with others through shared effort and common purpose.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the challenge has so far raised an incredible £8,931 in support of our Bursary Programme and Hardship Fund – helping to ensure that financial disadvantage does not stand in the way of a girl receiving a St Margaret's education.
With Gift Aid still to be added, we're close to reaching our target – and with a few more donations, we're confident we can get there.
We hope this challenge has reminded you, as it has reminded us, of the strength, resilience and friendships that define our school community.
