At St Margaret’s School for Girls, our Nursery provides the ideal introduction to education, nurturing curiosity, confidence and a love of learning from the very beginning. For families across the city, we offer more than just early years provision: we offer the start of a supportive educational journey within one welcoming community.
About our St Margaret’s Nursery
Our Nursery offers bright, spacious indoor learning areas alongside a secure outdoor environment, where children can play, explore and develop their physical and social skills. Outdoor learning is an integral part of our daily routine, helping children build resilience, confidence and a sense of adventure.
Through a balanced approach of play-based learning and structured activities, we support each child’s development across key areas, including communication, numeracy, physical development and creativity. Learning is led by the child’s interests, encouraging exploration, independence and enthusiasm for discovering the world around them.
We understand that early experiences shape a child’s confidence and outlook on learning. That’s why our staff take the time to get to know each child as an individual, supporting their unique needs and celebrating their progress every step of the way.
Specialist teaching
At St Margaret’s Nursery, our children benefit from specialist teaching in areas such as music, gym, and dance, all designed to spark creativity, coordination and self-expression. These experiences not only make learning fun, but also help to develop important life skills that will support children as they progress through nursery and school.
Funding and wraparound care
Funded early learning and childcare is provided for the core hours of 8.00am–2.20pm, term-time (36 weeks), totalling 1,140 hours per school year, fully funded by Aberdeen City Council.
Wraparound care is available outside these funded hours at an additional cost, with after-nursery care offered from 2.20pm - 5.30pm.
Nursery into school
A confident start to school begins with the right nursery, and at St Margaret’s that journey is thoughtfully supported from the very beginning. Girls who begin in our Nursery move smoothly into the Junior School, already familiar with their surroundings, routines and teachers.
Visit our nursery
We invite families to our Nursery Open Morning on Friday 17th April. This is an opportunity to explore our facilities, meet our staff and see our Nursery in action. Most importantly, it’s a chance to experience the welcoming environment that defines St Margaret’s and to discover how we can support your child.
