St Margaret’s School for Girls hosted a superhero marathon challenge at Summerhill Playing Field, bringing pupils and staff together to support CHAS and the Moore family.
On Friday 17 April 2026, pupils and staff took part in a superhero marathon challenge at Summerhill Playing Field in support of CHAS, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland, and the Moore family.
The event was held in support of the parents of Junior 3 pupil Ailith Moore, whose older sister Calla has faced serious health challenges since birth.
As Calla nears her 10th birthday, her parents, Mr and Mrs Moore, are taking part in the 2026 London Marathon on Sunday 26 April to raise £10,000 for CHAS. The charity has supported the family throughout Calla’s life, including providing respite care that gave Ailith her first holiday experience.
CHAS is a children’s charity in Scotland that provides care and support for children who may die young and their families.
At the school event, Junior pupils, teachers and staff took on a running challenge of 26 minutes each, working together to complete a combined total of 212 laps around the track.
The distance represented the equivalent of two full marathons, linking the school’s efforts to the London Marathon challenge being undertaken by the Moores.
Pupils and staff dressed as superheroes for the challenge, celebrating resilience, strength and support for Calla, Ailith, their family and CHAS.
Held on a rainy afternoon, the event brought the St Margaret’s community together at Summerhill Playing Field, with pupils showing fantastic enthusiasm, creativity and team spirit.
The initiative reflects the values at the heart of St Margaret’s: compassion, community and making a positive difference.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the superhero marathon challenge such a powerful show of kindness, community spirit and support.
