Team St Margaret’s Takes on Really Muddy Aberdeen in Support of Bursary Programme

St Margaret’s School for Girls was delighted to see more than 60 members of the school community come together for Really Muddy Aberdeen at Castle Fraser on Sunday 17 May.

The team tackled mud, marshes, forest trails and obstacles in a fantastic display of community spirit, teamwork and resilience. Despite the muddy conditions, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and encouragement from teammates and supporters, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.

Team St Margaret’s has raised over £2,400 so far in support of the school’s bursary programme, helping to ensure talented young women can benefit from a St Margaret’s education regardless of their financial circumstances.

Anna Tomlinson, Head Teacher at St Margaret’s School for Girls, said:

“This was such a great day for our whole school community. It was brilliant to see pupils, parents, families, friends and staff all getting involved, cheering each other on and having fun together, even in the mud.

“Whether climbing over obstacles or cheering from the sidelines, everyone played their part and created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support shown for our bursary programme, which helps ensure talented young women can benefit from a St Margaret’s education regardless of their financial circumstances.”

The school’s bursary programme helps open the doors of a St Margaret’s education to more pupils, removing financial barriers and widening access to the opportunities, support and confidence that the school provides.

For 180 years, St Margaret’s has supported girls to grow in confidence, curiosity and resilience, providing an education designed to help them thrive. Through the bursary programme, the school aims to make this opportunity accessible to more talented young women, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Former bursary recipient Mahsa Manzari shared the powerful impact of the programme, after it enabled her to study fifth and sixth year at St Margaret’s:

“From the moment I joined St Margaret’s, I looked forward to each day. I proudly represented the school in maths competitions, earning several awards, and won three out of seven prizes in the STEM in the Pipeline project.

“The education I received gave me confidence, valuable skills, and lasting lessons in kindness, resilience, and determination. These foundations led me to study Mathematics and Computer Science and pursue a career as a Business Intelligence Consultant.”

The event was a wonderful example of the strength of the St Margaret’s community, with pupils, parents, families and staff supporting one another every step of the way.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part and supported the team on the day. Thank you to everyone who donated to this important cause and helped make a real difference to future St Margaret’s pupils.
